Cost of Hiring the Wrong Person

“The cost of a Negligent Hiring Lawsuit to an employer is normally around one million dollars, and can exceed 40 million. 79% of these lawsuits are lost by the employer.”
Imagine this: you just hired a new employee and today is their first day of work. Fast forward three weeks: most of your sales force has left, your company’s name is plastered on the front of all the newspapers (not in a way that you want) and three different customers are threatening to sue you.
Okay, that’s a little extreme, but stick with me here.
Hiring the wrong person is a disaster any day of the week. It’s a waste of your time, a waste of your company’s money, and a waste of effort. But what if it’s even more?
Did you know you can actually be sued for hiring the wrong person?
It’s true. Courts have ruled that “an employer has a general duty to check criminal records for employees who will have interface with the public, or who could have a foreseeable opportunity to commit a violent crime against someone in the course of ‘employment.’”
Thinking of skipping the background check?
Let’s see if we can change your mind.

I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that these are not nice figures. Hiring the wrong employee can lead to all kinds of problems such as low employee morale, embezzlement, dishonesty, high employee turnover rate, workplace violence, Negligent Hiring Lawsuits – enough!
Why risk it?
Why put your company at risk when it is so easy to avoid?
A comprehensive background check is the first step in protecting your company from the myriad of disasters that can result in a bad hire. When obtained from a reputable background screening company, this report can be the difference between success and failure.
“30% of all business failures are due to employee theft and related forms of dishonesty. In other words, hiring the wrong person can hurt you, your employees, customers, and public image.”
Your company works hard to produce a product or service that the world needs, don’t throw it all away by saving a few bucks on a background report. Get a good report, protect your company, your employees and customers. It’s the right thing to do.
On top of that, you might hire an ax-murderer.
Who knows?
You might.
